In this story, I want to share the important insights that I gained from Robert Dilts’ books. The prominent ones are

  • Strategies for Genius,
  • Visionary Leadership Skills,
  • Alpha Leadership, and
  • Sleight of Mouth.

Robert Dilt’s practical and visionary leadership ideas made me think differently and see the objects and situations with a novel and neutral eye.

I used his logical model as an effective thinking tool for my personal and professional life.

Turning this thinking tool to a habit in my interactions and engagements contributed to the efficiency of my personal and professional relationships. With ongoing practice, I learned leveraging the logical observation, thinking, and analysis model in my personal relationships and entrepreneurial ventures.

My purpose in this article is to introduce and highlight the logical model which helped me look at the situations, people, and events in a structured way. I want to share it as it is an educative tool for us.

The importance of this model is to provide a structured view that can improve the quality of our observations, thinking, and analyzing skills. It is not only useful for personal matters but also an excellent addition to our entrepreneurial and business toolbox.

Let me share the structure of the model and how the concepts map to the questions that we may ask to gain insights. I kept the descriptions brief as the headlines and the powerful questions are self-explanatory.

I hope providing a synopsis of the "Logical Perspective Model" will give my readers useful insights.

The logical perspective model is based on six hierarchical concepts.

These concepts cover the major aspects of our being and existence in this world. All of us can relate these aspects of our lives.

They are:

  • Environment
  • Behaviour
  • Capabilities
  • Beliefs and Values
  • Identity
  • Beyond Identity

1. Environment

At the bottom level of the model, the framework starts with the environment.

The environment is our external context. We all experience this.

The environment step of the model maps to where and when questions.

2. Behaviour

The second level of the framework relates to our behaviour.

In this level, we demonstrate specific behavioural actions and take steps to respond to our environment.

The behavioural step of the model maps to what question.

3. Capabilities

The third level of the framework relates to our capabilities.

This level includes our vision, strategies, mental maps, life plans. Our capabilities are formed by our behaviour and reflected in our environment.

This step of the model maps to how question.

4. Belief and Values

The fourth level of the framework relates to beliefs and values.

Belief and values are the drivers of our capabilities. They can support or inhibit our capabilities.

This step of the model maps to why question.

5. Identity

The fifth level of the framework relates to the notion of identity.

The identity concept relates to how we see ourselves in our environment with regard to our capabilities, belief, and values.

This step of the model maps to who question.

6. Beyond Identity

The fifth level of the framework relates to the notion of going beyond identity.

This highest level is about going beyond ourselves and relating to larger systems such as the universe.

This concept is related to our purpose and spirituality in life.

This step of the model maps to for whom and for what questions.

Conclusions

By using this powerful model in our personal and professional life, we can make better sense of people, processes, events, and situations.

This model can resemble a powerful glass clarifying obscure objects.

By using this model and turning the steps of the framework with powerful questions helped me think clearly and view objects and situations neutrally.

I shared my powerful thinking methods in a News Break story titled How To Add Novelty To Your Thinking.
