Texas Governor Greg Abbott is receiving more support from states to help in Operation Lone Star. For the past few years, Governor Abbott has used Texas law enforcement and the National Guard to detain illegal immigrants and seize millions in fentanyl that crosses the border.

In the past few weeks, Governor Abbott has received more support from State governors to help along the border.

Governors of Montana, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, and South Dakota, announced they were sending their national guard to help Texas along the border. Now, a sixth governor announced he was sending the National Guard along with State police.

Missouri Governor Mike Parsons announced he was sending personnel to Texas in a news conference. Parsons is sending about 200 Missouri National Guard (MONG) members and 22 Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) troopers to the southern border.

Governor Parson said according to a press release:

"About two weeks ago, I visited the Southern Border, and let me not mince words when I say it is a crisis. The crisis at the Southern Border is fueling the fentanyl crisis here in our state. Missourians are dying; families are being ripped apart; communities are being destroyed, and Missouri children are falling victim. It all stems from the Biden Administration's reckless, irresponsible, and failing open-border policies. With our Southern Border wide open, every state is now a border state."
"President Biden and the federal government must step up to stop illegal entry into our nation, to stop the free flow of fentanyl into our communities, and combat the rise of human trafficking, but we've waited long enough. Missouri will act by deploying our own resources to secure our nation's border."

Missouri may not have many migrants but they have had a high number of deaths due to fentanyl. According to DEA, Missouri had 1,493 deaths in 2021 due to fentanyl.

The additional support is likely to be well received by Governor Abbott and other personnel working along the border.
