    Georgia Joins Governor Abbott and Texas in Border Crisis

    Governor Brian Kemp announced deploying the Georgia National Guard to support Texas and the border crisis. Georgia’s Republican Congress condemned President Joe Biden on his handling of the border crisis.

    Kemp announced on February 13 the National Guard deployment. The governor was recently was in Texas along with 13 other governors supporting Governor Greg Abbott. In Eagle Pass, Governor Abbott laid out new border security plans which includes more razor wire and National Guard support according to CBS News.

    In a recent Newsweek article, the Georgia Senate said:

    "Any action taken by Governor Brian Kemp to allocate resources and assistance to the protection of the southern border as well as the actions of Governor Greg Abbott to safeguard the people of Texas."

    The Georgia Senate voted 31-15 to support Texas and the border crisis. The Georgia House approved a similar resolution on Monday, February 12.

    Senate Majority Leader Steve Gooch, a Dahlonega Republican said according to US News:

    “We’re condemning President Biden that he took back and did a reversal in regard to what President Trump passed into law by executive order. What we’ve said is we want that executive order reinstated.”

    Governor Kemp is following other Republican governors by sending military support to Texas including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Montana Greg Gianforte, and others.
