Donald Trump's search for his Vice President - Could Kari Lake be the one?
2023-03-19
As Donald Trump campaigns for President in 2024, there has been speculation on who he will choose as his Vice President. It is likely that President Joe Biden will formally announce he is running for a second term. So who Trump picks as his Vice President will hopefully improve his chances for a second term in the White House.
Since Biden has Kamala Harris as his Vice President, Trump is leaning toward selecting a female for second in command. He wants to win back the White suburban women who didn’t vote for him in the 2020 race. Trump’s relations with his previous Vice President, Mike Pence have soured.
Several potential Vice Presidents have been mentioned. Nikki Haley of South Carolina is one potential candidate and so is Marjorie Taylor Greene. Now here is a third candidate who lost her first election but has been a strong supporter of Trump.
Kari Lake.
The former news anchor for 22 years in Phoenix Arizona doesn’t have political experience except for losing the election to Hobbs in 2022 for Arizona Governor. But she has a platform that could help attract voters for the Trump election.
Despite losing the race, Lake has no intention of seeking Vice President. Some believe she may run for U.S. Senate.
“BREAKING: Out of 30 contenders, @KariLake wins @CPAC straw poll for Vice President. We’re flattered, but unfortunately our legal team says the Constitution won’t allow for her to serve as Governor and VP at the same time.”
Lake doesn’t want to say she’ll be Trump’s Vice President. She is focused on trying to get the election with Katie Hobbs overturned as Arizona Governor.
Last month, on a recent trip to Iowa which is a key state for Presidential elections, Lake said:
"I really believe [Trump's] policies are the ones that can help save this country, truly. And so I'm going to do whatever I can. If he wants me to help him in any way, shape, or form, I will do that. I will campaign for him. I'll do whatever I need to. But I'm not running for VP. I'm not running for president. I am just running to save America if there's such a thing. I just want to save America."
Since Trump likes winners, this could be a potential strike for him if he picks Lake as his running mate for the 2024 ticket.
But Trump has been known to do crazy things so who he picks is anyone’s guess.
Do you think Kari Lake would be a good pick for Vice President?
