On January 2019, former President Donald Trump implemented the “Migrant Protection Protocols.” Then upon his first day in office, President Joe Biden suspended it in January 2021. Biden wanted no part of the previous regime under his watch. But slowly this year, he is reintroducing some of them as the migrant crisis is getting out of control.

Last year over 2 million migrants crossed the southern borders of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Despite numerous requests from Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Biden ignored them. But it appears he is finally implementing policy to support the Republican governor. At the same time, President Biden is angering people in his own party.

Recently, President Biden is having illegal aliens arrested since they are not following the procedures to legally enter the country. Biden should know since he implemented these rules over the past two months.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement:

"We are a nation of immigrants, and we are a nation of laws. We are strengthening the availability of legal, orderly pathways for migrants to come to the United States, at the same time proposing new consequences on those who fail to use processes made available to them by the United States and its regional partners."

The Biden administration suddenly changed direction after he got a closer look at the situation when he visited the southern border when he went to El Paso in early January.

His immigration policies have helped lower the number of migrants crossing the border but the number of illegal immigrants continues as Border Patrol arrests them. Numerous smugglers are also continuing to bring them over the border illegally.

There is also a rumor that Biden could send migrant families back to the border.

Representative Greg Cesar (D-Texas) said:

“Locking immigrant families and children into cages along the border is dangerous, ineffective, and wrong.”

This could be another move as Title 42 is expected to end in May.

Do you think President Biden is making these changes to improve his chances if he runs for re-election in 2024?
