News is trending that New York Mayor Eric Adams is bussing migrants to Canada. While that information spreads, Adams opens up another migrant shelter in the City.

Mayor Adams is opening the sixth Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center as asylum seekers continue arriving.

    Mayor Adams said:

“With more than 44,000 asylum seekers arriving in the last ten months alone, we have helped provide shelter and support to nearly as many asylum seekers as the number of New Yorkers we already had in our shelter system when we first came into office.
“We continue to meet all our moral obligations, serving those arriving with dignity and care, but we remain in serious need of additional support from our federal partners, including a real decompression strategy to slow this influx.
“This sixth Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center will provide hundreds of asylum seekers with a place to stay, access support, and get to their final destination.”

Under Mayor Adams, the City has opened 83 emergency shelters and now six humanitarian relief centers.

Canada tells Mayor Adams to stop sending migrants north

In December, the NY Times reported 4,689 migrants crossed the New York-Canada border into Quebec.

Now the government of Quebec tells Mayor Adams he needs to stop.

A spokesperson for Quebec Premier Francois Legault said:

“Any form of assistance to migrants crossing the border where it is strictly forbidden to do so should stop immediately.”

It’s not that Montreal doesn’t want migrants. But the City is much smaller than New York. The Canadian city has a population of about 1.7 million while New York has a population of about 8.5 million.

Mayor Adams reported over 40,000 migrants have arrived in the city from Texas and other locations.

If you were Mayor Adams, how would you support the migrants?
