As President Joe Biden begins his trip to Mexico, he first plans to stop in El Paso, Texas on Sunday. This will be his first trip visiting a border city as President.

President Biden said he will allow 30,000 migrants a month to enter the United States. He plans to allow people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to enter the country. And, they must apply from their home countries to be allowed in the country, legally.

Then the countries of Nicaragua and Venezuela won’t take their citizens back who entered the U.S. illegally. Mexico only plans to allow a limited number of migrants from Central America.

But there is a problem. Cities in Texas and Arizona can barely manage a few hundred migrants a day. Then the sanctuary cities that these states have bussed them to can barely manage the number of migrants as well.

Biden wants to help immigrants from other countries come to America so they can live the American Dream.

Biden said:

“It’s important to step back and see the bigger picture.”

On Thursday morning Biden said:

“As long as America is the land of freedom and opportunity, people are going to try to come here.”

He added that politics is making it hard for immigrants who want to come to America.

Biden added:

“If the most extreme Republicans continue to demagogue this issue, and reject solutions, I’m left with only one choice … do as much as I can on my own to try to change the atmosphere.”

The Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said there is a process that migrants must follow or they will be kicked out of the country.

Mayorkas said:

“We can provide humanitarian relief, consistent with our values, cut out the vicious smuggling organizations, and enforce our laws to enhance the security of our Southwest border by reducing irregular migration.”
“The message is clear: Individuals should stay where they are and apply for these processes.”

The President and Mayorkas recommended Congress needs to fix the immigration issue.
