Just days after getting into office, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs gave her plan for the first 100 days and added follow-on details. One of the key areas she mentioned was her plan for the border with Mexico where migrants have crossed.

In addition, Hobbs mentioned she plans to provide affordable housing, improve the economy for workers, education, and water security.

When it comes to the border, Governor Hobbs said:

"We are going to be 100% focused on the needs of the border communities. I’ve already had conversations with the mayors of San Luis, Yuma, Douglas, [and] Tucson talking about what they need."

You already know Governor Hobbs will lead slightly differently than her predecessor Governor Doug Ducey.

After installing the shipping containers Governor Ducey was left to remove them at a cost of about $75 million.

Yuma’s Mayor Douglas Nicholls mentioned the shipping containers were working.

He said:

"The shipping containers are working. They're closing the gaps. They've closed off the most active areas."

Governor Hobbs shared her thoughts a few weeks about how she can help border towns:

Governor Hobbs realizes she has a lot to take care of and said:

"We have a lot of issues to tackle. I think Arizonans expect leadership that deals with multiple things at one time."

Full details on what she plans to do to secure the border are not known yet. Governor Hobbs has a big job to fill and help secure towns that are along the border.

Governor Hobbs said:

Today marks a new era in Arizona, where my Administration will work to build an Arizona for everyone. I am proud to launch my First 100 Days Initiative, which will center around tackling the biggest challenges facing Arizonans, like making our state more affordable and sustainable. It’s time for bold action and I feel ready as ever to get the job done. Let’s get to work.”

What do you think Governor Hobbs would do to protect Arizona’s border?
