After thousands of migrants have crossed from Mexico to El Paso, Texas, President Joe Biden was looking for a way to help the state manage the crisis. After months of working with Mexico, the President issued a new order. This will limit the number of Venezuelan migrants who can legitimately stay in the United States.

From the Rio Grande River all the way to the border wall along El Paso, two days after the order went into effect, the number of migrants started to decrease.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the order stated:

“Effective immediately, Venezuelans who enter the United States between ports of entry, without authorization, will be returned to Mexico.”

Deputy City Manager Mario D'Agostino said:

"So, just looking at the numbers and what we are being told to expect tomorrow, we are going to start ramping down operations.”

D’Agostino added:

“We realize that we won’t need the charters, so at the point, we will start handling it differently.”

Previously, El Paso was sending nine to 14 buses a day to New City City. This caused New York City Mayor Eric Adams to declare a State of Emergency.

The number of buses arriving in New York doesn’t include the buses El Paso sent to Chicago as well. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who is a Democrat, blames most of her criticism of migrants on Republican Governor Greg Abbott and not El Paso Democratic Mayor Oscar Leeser.

The number of migrants may increase

Since President Biden put this new law into effect, migrants who are returned back to Mexico may illegally enter the United States.

It is not clear if this will happen. So, U.S. Border Patrol needs to stay vigilant to ensure illegal immigrants don’t try to cross the border for a second time.

Only time will tell to see if the migrants try a second time to cross Texas borders.

Do you think the new law by President Biden will work?
