Governor Abbott Wants Your Money to Bus Migrants Out of Texas

Busing migrants out of Texas costs money and Governor Greg Abbott wants your money to help out. For the past several months since April, Abbott has bused migrants out of Del Rio, Texas, and other border town locations to follow on locations, with some ending up in New York City and Washington, D.C.

The Austin, Texas governor wanted President Joe Biden to help out with the crisis as migrants continue to travel across the Texas-Mexican border but the President has not provided any support.

So, to help defray the costs, Abbott wants your money to help out and reduce the costs.

On Governor Abbott’s website a message read:

"In the wake of President Biden’s decision to end Title 42 expulsions, Governor Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to charter buses to transport migrants to Washington, D.C. You can donate online now by credit card* or donate by mail by sending a check to the address below."

As of July 22, the state has collected $118, 297. On Sunday, the Washington Examiner reported Texas was billed about $7 million.

Any unused money will be redirected to help build the Texas border wall. As of July 22, Texas has collected $55,334,747.

Since Governor Abbott began busing migrants to New York, there has been push-back from New York Governor Eric Adams.

Approximately 6,000 migrants were bused to New York.

Governor Abbott said referring to Mayor Adams:

"I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief."

The migrant crisis doesn’t appear to be ending soon.
