President Trump has been Quiet Lately, but He is Messing With Texas

2021-10-04

The former President Donald Trump lost the presidential election, but he is telling Governor Greg Abbott to review the election results.

Trump demanded "a strong and real Forensic Audit of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam — not a weak risk-limiting audit that is being slow-walked through the Secretary of State's office."

In his statement, he wanted Austin lawmakers to add stiffer penalties for illegal voting. Governor Abbott is working on this and mentioned it here recently. A few weeks ago, the Texas legislature lowered the penalties for committing this crime.

Trump thanked GOP State Senator Paul Bettencourt for filing an election review bill. Trump prefers sending the bill to a key Senate committee where Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick presides over the Senate.

The former President called Bettencourt and Patrick “patriots” and “bold” leaders for moving the Texas audit bill forward. He called Abbott’s a “risk-limiting” effort and “weak.”

"Everyone feels certain Governor Abbott will follow suit," Trump added. "This will have a big impact on the upcoming 2022 and 2024 elections in Texas."

In the presidential election, Trump won Texas by more than 5 percentage points. Trump is backing bills that support party leaders and candidates to review future elections. This will have a big impact on the upcoming 2022 and 2024 elections in Texas. He commented, “Texas will always be red, but we must stop the cheating.”

Additionally, President Trump is trying to keep his name in the public’s eye if he runs for election in 2024.

"Texas is conducting the largest forensic audit in the country to ensure the integrity of the 2020 election, as well as the integrity of elections going forward," Abbott spokesperson Renae Eze said in a statement, also noting the new elections bill that Abbott recently signed into law. "We have all the tools necessary to conduct a full, comprehensive audit, and that process will address any irregularities and ensure all valid votes are counted."
Abbott said, “every single year we have allegations of illegal voting.”

The Governor continues to get pressure from President Trump

Texas needs you to act now,” Trump told Abbott. “Your Third Special Session is the perfect, and maybe last, opportunity to pass this audit bill. Time is running out.”

As Abbott gets pressure from Trump, he gets similar attacks from state challengers.

An Abbott primary challenger, former state Sen. Don Huffines of Dallas, said Trump “was very clear in what he asked Greg Abbott to do: pass House Bill 16.”
“Greg Abbott is refusing that request and obfuscating the issue by pretending to audit four counties,” Huffines said in a statement. “It’s just the latest example of his failed leadership.”

Abbott is getting pressure from a lot of people these days on the election, Haitian refugees along the border, and the abortion bill recently passed.

Do you think President Trump will run in the 2024 elections?
