Southern Living Magazine has proclaimed Madison, Georgia, to be one of the South's prettiest towns, and it's easy to see why. Madison is home to a rich and well-preserved history, beautiful homes, lush gardens, and a charming historic district. It also offers regular, free family events each summer. Here are the events for the upcoming week:

Toddler Tuesdays at Hard Labor Creek State Park: Tuesday, July 7th

Bring your toddlers out to Toddler Tuesdays for Kim's Game and Barefoot Walking on July 6th from 10:00 - 10:45 am at 5 Hard Labor Creek Road. Call the park office to register at 706-557-3001. Parking is $5. Advanced registration and social distancing are required. This event is limited to 10 toddlers under 5 years of age. Join the park's naturalist for a hands-on, toddler-friendly activity.

Rutledge Farmer's Market & Library: Wednesday, July 8th

Visit the Rutledge Farmer's Market & Library every Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Some of the weekly staples include vegetables, boiled peanuts, Color Street nails, watermelon, sourdough bread, sweets, flowers, and crafts.

Firefly Nights, Kids Night: Thursday, July 9th

Thursday, July 8th, will be the first of many free summer events presented by Main Street Madison, Georgia. This event will be held at Town Park at 218 West Jefferson Street in Madison.

Kids Night will feature an hour-long Magic and Juggling Show from 7:30 - 8:45 pm. Following the magic show, there will be a showing of Tom & Jerry, the 2021 G-rated movie, which runs 1 hour and 41 minutes. The movie will begin at 9:00 pm.

Summer Artist Talk: Friday, July 9th

The Madison Artists Guild and Gallery (MAGallery) presents the Summer Artist Talk: Painting with Egg Tempera on Friday, July 9th. This event features artist Peter M. Muzyka from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at the MAGallery (125 W. Jefferson Street in Madison). The artist will explain the medium of egg tempera, once preferred by medieval and renaissance artists. Light refreshments will be served, and guests will be able to browse the artist's exhibit EMPH'SIS ON NATURE.

The Rutledge Summer Concert Series and Coldwell Banker Lake Country present David Prince in concert on Friday, July 9th, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the gazebo in Downtown Rutledge (113 Fairplay Street, corner of Fairplay and Main Streets). He will be performing classic favorites, oldies, soul, and beach music. Other sponsors of this event include:
