A shooter positioned higher in the park opened fire on a subject still on the sidewalk as he entered the park. It's estimated that 15-20 rounds were fired in total from at least 2 different guns.

A mother and her son were enjoying some family time on the front porch of their home across the street from the park.

At least 2 shots traveled across the street and struck the 4-year-old in the stomach.

Zsailynn Amari Conley was rushed to Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

At this point, the investigation is still underway. Investigators were still on the scene throughout last night and early this morning.

While we are still waiting for confirmation, it is our strong belief that one suspect is in custody, while at least one other person remains at large.

The County Prosecutor, Shane Tieman, released this statement at 11 am on Monday.

A shooting has been confirmed to have occurred on Grant Street. A child, DOB 3/18/2018, was fatally wounded. The incident is believed to be an isolated incident and not a random shooting. This is an active investigation.

To avoid compromising an ongoing investigation and to abide by ethical obligations, very little information can be released at this time. To report information regarding this incident, please contact Capt. Michael Hamilton at (740) 354-1600 or (740) 353-4101.
