Girl received $3K from The Women Commission for Education and Training and the Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County

Cuyahoga County, OH. - A five-year-old girl and her family received a cashier's check for $3,000.00 from the Women Commission for Education and Training and the Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County. Several months ago, the little girl had a heart transplant. The organizations and small boutique owners decided to raise money for the family to help with expenses.

"Organ donors and organ recipients are the difference between life and death. When they found out about our baby, several people reached out asking how they could help. Styles of Imagination Clothing Store, Our Favorite Things Boutique, and Fashions by Fowler held special fundraising events at their locations to raise money. The Women Commission for Education and Training (WCET) and the Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County (BWCCC) partnered. They held the first Annual Celebrity Carwash and Waterfall Fashion Show Fundraiser at Castle High School in Maple Heights, OH, in support of our grandbaby. We didn't know how much money people would give, but we were thankful", says Lady Gilmore, one of the child's grandmother. The other grandmother, Ms. J. Puryear, expressed her gratitude. "Our family, we are grateful for the kindness of others."

In a well-attended event, the Women Commission for Education and Training and the Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County issued a cashier's check to the family for three thousand dollars during their private Business at the Beach Affair. The young girl also received a t-shirt and a plaque.

Notable individuals at the Business at the Beach Affair included Mayor Annette M Blackwell of Maple Heights, Councilmen Richard Trojanksi and Tim Tatum, Councilwomen Dana D. Anderson and Toni Jones of Maple Heights, Judge Cornelius Sullivan of the 8th District Appeals Court, Mayor Matt Burke of Garfield Heights, Councilman Avery Johnson and Former Councilman Mike Dudley Sr, Former Mayor Trevor Elkins of the Village of Newburgh, and Councilman Derick Williams of Oakwood Village. Also, State House of Representative Candidate of the 18th District Darnell Brewer and Activists Mariah Crenshaw, Donna Walker-Brown, Cassandra McDonald, and Marvetta Rutherford was in attendance.

Prolific Poet Gale Henderson provided a performance.

The Women Commission for Education and Training is a 501(c) 3 organization registered with the State of OHIO. The organization's purpose is to serve all women; empower women through education seminars, on-hand training, viable-effective-proven resources, self and wealth investment, and mentoring. "Whatever the need - we shall develop the supply" - WCET.
