You might be in a relationship with someone that you love and care about, and the two of you might try to keep in touch with each other throughout the day by text. However, your partner might have issues texting, and therefore, he or she might use vocal texting to get his or her messages to you. So, what do you do if these vocal texts are difficult to read or understand? How do you approach this situation? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Talk to your partner about it.

Let your partner know that you are not able to understand some of the texts that he or she is sending. Talk to them about how this confusion makes you feel and what you can do to improve the communication between the two of you during the day.

2. Teach your partner how to text manually.

Your partner might not know how to text on his or her phone, so show him or her how to do this. Show him or her any shortcuts that help you with this process, and see how he or she does when he or she tries it on his or her own.

3. Practice texting manually with your partner.

Sit down and practice texting manually with your partner so he or she can get used to it. You could do this while the two of you are sitting down together in the evening or you could try to do it during the day. Try to be patient with your partner if it takes him or her time to get used to this new way of communicating, and try to be understanding if he or she still makes mistakes.

If you and your partner text each other throughout the day, but you are having issue understanding your partner's vocal texts, then try to talk to him or her about it. Let him or her know why you are having issues understanding his or her messages, and offer to help him or her learn how to text manually. If your partner does allow you to teach him or her how to text manually in a way that is comfortable to him or her, then try to be patient while he or she learns the process. It may take some practice, but you might find that after time, your text conversations become easier to process.
