What is Rhinoplasty

2021-09-21

Rhinoplasty, also known as a "nose job," is a cosmetic plastic surgery treatment that involves changing the shape of the nose and enhancing facial characteristics. Rhinoplasty or a nose job gives patients a very natural appearance by balancing all of the components of the nose and face, as well as the entire new nose with the patient's facial features. Many unfavorable aspects of the nose can be altered by surgery. A crooked nose, which may have been broken, can be narrowed, a dorsal hump can be removed, a large and boxy nasal tip can be refined, and a crooked nose can be narrowed. If you have a functional breathing problem, it can be treated at the same time as your cosmetic Rhinoplasty.

Nose Straightening A deviated nasal septum, broken and misplaced nasal bones, and a deviation of the septum generating a crooked nose, in addition to a fracture of the septum off the maxillary crest and vomer, are all factors that contribute to a crooked nose. When the top lateral cartilage is shattered and dislocated from the nasal bone, the nose might become concave in the middle. Rhinoplasty, which involves placing osteotomies in the nasal bones to straighten them back to their pre-injury state, is commonly used to treat this. Straightening the midportion of the nose and filling out the concave upper lateral cartilage can be accomplished with a cartilaginous spreader graft obtained from inside the nose. When the cartilages are asymmetrical, a tip-plasty is required, and cartilage grafting or cartilage removal may be required. A septoplasty is required if the nasal septum is fractured or if the septal cartilage is deviated. Any of these surgery components can be performed as an outpatient surgical procedure using the closed rhinoplasty method under general anesthesia

Bulbous Tip Diminishment The lower lateral cartilages of the nose, which form the bulbous nose, are made up of a combination of wide, divergent, and thick cartilages. Inter-domal and intra-domal stitches are suture procedures used to narrow the current wide and boxy cartilages. A judicious amount of cartilage is removed to optimize the shape and retain a natural outcome, in addition to suture procedures to narrow the nasal tip cartilages. These procedures can be carried out using a closed technique, which involves making all incisions on the inside of the nose.

Narrowing a Wide Nose

Because to the congenital formation of nasal bones, most people have a wide nose. Trauma and a nasal fracture can also cause wide and spread nasal bones. Nasal bone narrowing necessitates medial and lateral osteotomies in the nasal bones themselves. The upper two-thirds of the nose — the nasal bones and associated upper lateral cartilages – are narrowed as a result of this procedure. To keep the nasal bones in their smaller position, a cast is placed over the bridge.

Lifting a Droopy Nose

Downwardly pointed cartilages are the most common cause of a drooping nose. A closed method can be used to elevate these cartilages. A downward deflection of the caudal nasal septum can also cause the tip of the nose to droop. The depressor septi ligament must be “released” when the tip of the nose droops when smiling. When smiling, this stops the tip of the nose from lowering dynamically Patients who have had both fillers and rhinoplasty at the same time may require a revision.

It's possible that some of these people will need two procedures.

Shaving Down the Dorsal Hump

The removal of the dorsal hump is a popular reason for patients to opt for a surgical rhinoplasty surgery. The majority of dorsal humps are made up of two-thirds cartilage and one-third bone, however this varies greatly depending on individual anatomy. To remove the dorsal hump, it must be shaved down. Following the excision of the dorsal hump, osteotomies in the nasal bones are required to repair the open roof (flat-top) nasal deformity caused by the hump removal.
