Kilmarnock offering cash reward for tips on February shooting

Kilmarnock Police Department is calling on the public to help solve a shooting case that occurred last month.

On Monday, February 21, around 12:40 in the morning KPD was dispatched to a home on New South Road where a shooting had been reported, Kilmarnock’s website states. Officers discovered that the residence, which was occupied at the time, had been hit numerous times by both rifle and handgun rounds, the site adds.

Although the home sustained extensive damage, no one was injured, reported News On The Neck. As of early this month, Kilmarnock Police Department was coordinating with Northumberland Sheriff’s Office on the case, but no arrests had been made, the news site also noted.

Now, KPD is turning to the public for assistance and has set up a tip line form on Kilmarnock’s official website. That form reveals that a $2500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Although anonymous tips are accepted, to be eligible for the reward, you must provide a name and phone number where you can be reached for a callback, the tip line page says. If that information is not provided, the reward cannot be given, the form adds. And it notes that all information provided goes directly to the investigating officers within KPD.

In addition to the tip line, those with information can submit tips via email at kilmarnocktipline@kilmarnockva.com or leave a detailed message at (804) 436-4385, says a press release emailed to announce the tip line and reward. When making tips via these methods, the same eligibility criteria for the reward applies, the press release says.
