The Best Pancakes in LA for National Pancake Day

2022-02-24

As if you need an excuse to order a stack of the good stuff, here's where to find the best pancakes in LA for National Pancake Day on March 1st - or any other day of the week!

The Griddle Cafe (Hollywood)

Pancakes the size of your face with one of the best views in the city. That's what you can expect at The Griddle Cafe, which runs out of Yamashiro in the daytime hours. Try a Banananana if it's your first time, featuring brown sugar baked bananas in their buttermilk batter (16.95). This is the base for many of their wilder blends, like The Golden Ticket with caramel, walnut, and streusel ($17.95). Another fan favorite is a stack of the Black Magic oreo-filled pancakes ($17.95).

Hours here are Wednesday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. While they won't be open on National Pancake Day (Tuesday), they are certainly some of the best pancakes in LA, and I couldn't leave them off the list.

Lady Byrd Cafe (Echo Park)

For a stack that is anything but ordinary, get the Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes ($14) from Lady Byrd Cafe. They are made with ricotta and topped with jam, whipped cream, honey, and a little bit of magic. It's both decadent and light all at once.

Lady Byrd Cafe is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekends.

IHOP (Various)

Stop into any IHOP on National Pancake Day (March 1st) from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and get yourself a FREE Shortstack of Buttermilk Pancakes. They created the day as a way to raise money for local charities, and March 1st culminates an entire month of giving to local children's hospitals. Doesn't that make the stack even sweeter?

IHOP is open as early as 6 a.m. in some locations until 10 p.m.

Clark Street Diner (Hollywood)

If you are looking for some Pancakes ($13) that are "so money, baby," then order a plate at Clark Street Diner. Baker Zack Hall of Clark Street Bread is behind the revamp of the fabulously Hollywood spot: the former 101 Coffee Shop. You may recognize it from such films as Swingers and episodes of Entourage.

Clark Street Diner is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Breakfast by Salt's Cure (West Hollywood/Santa Monica)

The OG Toasted Cinnamon Sugar Griddle Cakes at Breakfast by Salt’s Cure are my favorite pancakes in Los Angeles. They are perfectly sweet, a little chewy, and have just the right amount of butter. It turns out happiness only costs $8 a plate (or $2 more for gluten-free).

Breakfast by Salt's Cure is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
